Background

Jayson Biggins was 8 years old when he first 'launched' himself high from a treetop. Unfortunately, he was without a paraglider at the time and ended up breaking both 'wings'.

Since then, he has excelled at many sports (track and field, basketball, downhill skiing, rockclimbing, etc.). In the Spring of 1992, he got his first glimpse of paragliding along the ocean bluffs off Dallas Road in Victoria, British Columbia - and it was at that moment he KNEW paragliding would become a part of his life. Time went by but a few years later - on the other side of the world in Australia - he finally got airborne and the dream became reality!

Today, when not out teaching or flying himself, Jayson is to be found spending time with his wife Natalie (who is also a PG pilot), THREE dogs - two of whom were found while running winter paragliding trips (one in Costa Rica and the other in Hawaii), and his increasingly independent 16yr old son, Jaron, who has decided to focus 'flying' downhill on his longboard.

A graduate of the University of Victoria (Environmental Studies/Philosophy double major), Jayson is past web designer and V.President of the Island Soaring Society. He is an H.P.A.C. Advanced Rated Paraglider Pilot, Senior Instructor, and Senior Tandem Pilot.

One of the most active tandem pilots and instructors in the country, Jayson has run paragliding courses and tours abroad in Hawaii, Costa Rica, Australia, India, and Nepal. He rarely enters the competitive arena but is proud to have won the 2001 Willi Muller X-Country Challenge in Golden, B.C. He was also the 2002 Dave Palmer 'Pilot of the Year' Memorial Trophy Recipient.

He enjoys both the exhilaration of cross country flying as well as the sheer joy of sharing the paragliding experience with someone for the first time.
