After such a good day at Dallas yesterday, coupled with the fact that we are in a High/Extreme Fire Hazard situation and most of our mountain sites have locked gates, we decided to stay in the city today. This proved to be the right call.

Lee was there when I arrived and Greg wasn't too far behind him. The wind was blowing around 10kph onshore, so I started Greg off with the somewhat daunting task of learning the reverse launch. Flying in itself is far from natural so you can imagine trying to control a glider as it changes from just some fabric on the ground into a full-fledged aircraft. Like Maurice and Bev the previous day, Greg found the process frustrating and, similarly, by the end of the day, he was feeling like he had made some definite progress.

P.Mac, Shabe, Pierre, Phil, and Charlie joined in and the wind strengthened enough to allow for some flying. After one short ride to the beach, Shabe managed to stay up much longer on his second flight and, on his third flight, he got his best one yet, taking in the views back over the city and finishing it off with a soft toplanding!

Pierre, Lee, Phil, and Charlie had multiple flights each and I joined them on tandem with Greg first and then P.Mac. They were both pumped after their tandems which only served to reinforce their desire to earn their wings!
