Seemingly a rash of husband-purchased gift certificates are being redeemed this fall. One would think that paragliding is primarily a male-dominated sport. And, as far as solo paragliding is concerned, they would be right. However, tandem paragliding has a completely different demographic: the vast majority of participants are women. Who knew?

Today, Paul and I saw what appeared to be the last sunny day in what could be a long stretch so we both headed for Duncan where we met up with Charlie and hopeful, tandem gift certificate-wielding local, Eva. As it turned out, she and Charlie knew one another (Duncan being a small town, and all) and we had a jovial trip up to launch together.

Wind was steady around 15kph on Main and Paul and Charlie helped me get the tandem organized and I think Eva was pleasantly surprised by the 'one-step, two-step, no-steps' launch. We really don't jump off mountains!

After getting comfortable in the harnesses, we soared past the cairn and then out front for a bit where we did our first 360. It was around this point in the flight that Eva said,

"Do you ever get repeat customers?"

She was enjoying the flight - to say the least. Paul was in the air now as well, and we floated around the lower cuts for a while before heading out high over the Landing Zone where we did some 'porpoising' before eventually landing.

Charlie elected to drive retrieve (thanks Charlie!) and we bid farewell to a grinning Eva :) then headed to the Training Hill where David was waiting. Paul worked with him initially and he had another solid training session.
